Simon Jones

Simon is the Director of Ariadne Associates and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD). He holds an MA in Strategic Human Resource Management from Liverpool John Moores University.

Prior to setting up Ariadne Associates in June 1999, Simon worked for Liverpool based public transport group MTL Services plc, initially as Personnel Services Manager for its Merseyside based bus operations and subsequently as Corporate Affairs Manager at its Group headquarters. In this latter role, which reported directly to the Chairman & Chief Executive, Simon was involved in corporate communications; managed the Chief Executive's office; and played a part in the group's proposed flotation in 1997/8. He was also responsible for graduate recruitment and a number of major HR projects, including senior management job evaluation, and career development.

Before that Simon worked as a Personnel Officer at Halton Council in Cheshire and began his career with the Royal Mail, doing several Personnel and operational management roles (at one point he was in charge of the team responsible for repainting pillar boxes in the Liverpool area!).

Simon was Chairman of the Liverpool group of the CIPD between 2001 and 2004. Outside the world of work, he's married with a young daughter, and has a keen interest in music and is a fan of Manchester City.
